Western States Ranches

Conscience Bay Company believes that agriculture is an essential part of Colorado’s future. Our operating company, Western States Ranches LLC, runs a commercial cow-calf operation on Colorado’s Western Slope. With Jim Howell of Grasslands LLC heading up our management team and Tyler Westhoff running our base of operations at the Harts Basin Ranch near Delta, Colorado, we focus on holistic planned grazing, regenerative agriculture, stewardship, and long-term productivity.

Mike Higuera

Director of Resource Investments

Mike joined CBC in 2015 to oversee the company’s investments in agricultural land and its conservation work. Prior to joining CBC, Mike spent seven years at The Nature Conservancy working on land acquisitions and conservation easement transactions in Colorado. Mike worked closely with ranchers to find ways to utilize conservation programs to help improve their operations. Mike continues to contribute to land conservation efforts in Colorado serving on the boards of the Colorado Coalition of Land Trusts and the Terra Foundation. Mike is a 1997 graduate of Middlebury College, and received his law degree from the University of Michigan in 2001.
